Spaying and Neutering
Spaying and Neutering not only helps to prevent unwanted litters, but also helps to protect against some serious health problems, and may reduce many of the behavioral problems associated with the mating instinct.
Dr. Hocker recommends having your dog spayed or neutered between 9 - 18 months of age, depending on breed. Cats can be done as early as 4 months.
Before the surgery, your pet is given a thorough physical examination to ensure that he/she is in good health. Anesthesia is administered to perform the surgery and medications are given to minimize the pain.
Pre-anesthetic lab testing is available depending on the age and health of your pet.
